Wetterauer Agrar Service GmbH (WAS) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Maschinenring Wetterau und Umgebung e.V. The company coordinates a network of farmers who provide professional winter road maintenance services for commercial, industrial, and municipal properties across the Rhine-Main region, Wetterau, South Hesse, and the Giessen/Limburg area.

The Challenge

Wetterauer Agrar Service coordinates a fleet of farmers operating tractors with snow ploughs and spreaders across hundreds of commercial and municipal properties in the Rhine-Main region. Before the app, every deployment was documented on paper — handwritten logs, manual timesheets, and phone calls to confirm completion. Billing at the end of the season was a weeks-long administrative nightmare.

When extreme weather hit, coordination was chaotic. Dispatchers had no real-time visibility into which routes were cleared, which properties were still waiting, and whether deployments met contractual obligations.

What We Built

A mobile app paired with a web-based management portal that puts deployment management directly into the hands of drivers and dispatchers:

Mobile App (Android):

  • GPS route tracking — every deployment is automatically logged with location, timestamps, and route data
  • Photo documentation — drivers photograph cleared properties on-site, geo-tagged and timestamped for auditable proof of service
  • Deployment parameters — weather conditions, salt/grit usage, equipment deployed, all captured in structured form fields
  • Offline-first architecture — winter service vehicles operate in rural areas with unreliable connectivity. The app queues all data locally and syncs when a connection becomes available
  • Real-time task assignment — dispatchers assign winter service areas to drivers through the portal, immediately visible in the app

Web Portal:

  • Object and billing management — centralised database of all service properties with contract details and pricing
  • Live deployment tracking — real-time visibility into which areas have been serviced and which are pending
  • Flexible assignment — reassign routes and areas in real-time as weather conditions change
  • Retroactive documentation — add missing deployments after the fact when needed
  • Personalised access — each client and service provider sees only their relevant data

The Result

What previously required days of manual data entry at the end of each billing cycle now happens automatically. Every deployment is documented the moment it occurs — GPS-verified, photo-proven, and instantly available for invoicing.

For WAS, the app transformed winter service from an operationally chaotic season into a professionally managed service line with complete transparency for their municipal and commercial clients.
