Lehrer-Online is not just another education website — it is the largest digital platform for teaching professionals in the German-speaking world. Over 250,000 community members, 100,000+ teaching materials across every subject and school type, 1,000+ training courses, partner portals, an AI-powered Classroom Manager, and a full e-commerce shop for premium content: the technical complexity grows with the platform.
The challenge since 2020: keeping this grown platform stable, performant and extensible — while simultaneously adding new features like the Classroom Manager with AI assistance, badge certification for training courses, and new partner portals. All on a Typo3 foundation that must keep pace with the growth.
Our Services
Since 2020 we are responsible for the continuous technical development and operation:
- Typo3 development: Custom PHP extensions for subject- and school-type-specific content management, didactic metadata and curriculum references — across all school types from primary to vocational education
- Shopware e-commerce: Full integration of the premium shop with automatic content unlocking after purchase, membership management and payment processing
- Tool development: Technical foundation for the Classroom Manager (including AI assistance), calculator tools, material exchange and badge certification for digital self-learning courses
- Partner portals: Technical implementation of specialised themed worlds including school law, puberty education and vocational training
- Performance & operations: Continuous optimisation for peak load periods — thousands of concurrent teachers at the end of holidays and start of the school year
- Security: Regular updates, monitoring and hardening of the publicly accessible platform
